Installing mods
Mods are ZIP files. You do not need to unpack them. Farming Simulator reads them straight from the mods folder.
- Download the mod with the download button on its page.
- Copy the ZIP file into the game's mods folder. On Windows it is usually
Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2025\mods, on a Mac~/Library/Application Support/FarmingSimulator2025/mods. - Start the game. When you create or load a savegame, the mod appears in the list and can be activated there.
For maps, you also select the map when you create the savegame. If a mod has dependencies, its page lists which other mods are needed. Put these into the mods folder as well.
Mods in multiplayer
In multiplayer, all players need the same mods in the same version. The mod page and the list show whether a mod is meant for multiplayer.
- Hosting your own game: Activate the mods for the savegame. Players download them automatically when they join, if that is allowed.
- Dedicated server: Put the ZIP files into the server's mods folder and activate them in the savegame. Restart the server afterwards.
- Different versions: If the versions do not match, joining fails. Make sure everybody has the same version.
The mod does not work
Usually it is something small. Go through these steps:
- Do not unpack the ZIP: The file must stay a ZIP in the mods folder. If it is unpacked, the game does not recognise it.
- Does the mod fit the game? A mod made for an older version of the game does not run in Farming Simulator 25. The mod page shows which game it was built for.
- Missing dependencies: Some mods need other mods. Check the information on the mod page.
- Duplicate files: If the same mod is in the folder twice, for example in two versions, this can cause problems. Keep only the current one.
- Read the log.txt file: The game writes all errors to
log.txtin the folderDocuments\My Games\FarmingSimulator2025. It usually shows which mod causes which error. The Log Assistant by SimuTools makes the file easier to read. - Comments on the mod page: Other players and the author may have solved the problem already.
If none of this helps, ask on our Discord or write to the author in the comments, ideally with the relevant lines from log.txt.
The tech rating
Every uploaded mod version is examined automatically. Among other things, the textures (for example mipmaps and sizes) and the scripts are checked. The result is a rating from 1 to 5. It says something about how cleanly the mod is built, not about whether you like it. A mod with a low rating can still work, but it may put more load on the game. The details are shown on each mod page.
Uploading your own mods
- Create an account and confirm your email address.
- Click "Upload a mod" and choose the ZIP file. It must contain a valid
modDesc.xmlin its root. - Enter a name and a description and add pictures. You can write descriptions in German, English and French.
- Optionally choose a licence for your mod.
- We take a quick look at the upload and approve it. Trusted authors can publish directly.
The rules for authors explain what is allowed and what to keep in mind.
Frequently asked questions
Are the mods free?
Yes. You can download every mod on SimuMods for free.
Are the files safe?
New uploads are reviewed before they go live and are scanned for malware automatically. Nothing is ever completely safe. Only download mods from sources you trust, and report suspicious files with "Report a problem".
Do I need an account to download?
Visiting the mod page is enough to download. You need an account to rate, comment, bookmark or upload mods.
